Many of you know the common sense approaches to test taking to reduce anxiety and improve test performance. Remember, good night's sleep without techonolgy interruptions and to eat a healthy breakfast. Protein is proven to help the brain focus. All of the online tests our students will take will have scratch paper available. Many students benefit from a "brain dump". This is where they write memory aides or questions that are hard or skipped. We also teach the students that for multiple choice tests there are often 2 choices that are completly wrong, taking students to a more successful 50/50 choice.
The most important message for this blog is that students are NOT a test score! I am here to help and brainstorm on various strategies that might help a student stay calm during this very often stressful time of year.
RSU Pryor is hosting a Concurrent Enrollment Night on Tuesday April 7th at 6:00PM. This event is for new concurrent students or students wanting to learn more about the concurrent process. Interested students need to see Mrs. Taylor to begin the admission process. Students do need to be fully admitted in order to enroll on the 7th. Appointments are preferred. Call Lindsey Coats at (918) 825-6014 or by email email@example.com for an appointment.
Regular enrollment for returning concurrent students begins on April 2nd.
Parents of 12th Grade students should have received an invitation to Financial Aid Night in the mail. The previous blog date was changed. Please come with questions for our Financial Aid experts who will be on hand to help parents complete the entire FAFSA in one setting.
The date for Financial Aid Night is Feb 12th, Thursday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the High School Computer Lab near the library. Come at any point during that window but allow 30 minutes for computer help. See you on Feb 12th. As always call my office with any questions.
ALL students considering going to college should complete the FAFSA. February is the prime month to complete the application to be eligible for the most funds. On Thursday, February 5, 2015 we will have a Financial Aid Night for you to complete your student’s FAFSA. We will meet at the High School Computer Lab starting at 6:00p.m. with help available until 8:00 pm to assist you with this sometimes intimidating process. You will work at a school computer with Financial Aid experts there to guide the way. No appointment needed but feel free to come any time between 6 and 8.
It is important that if you plan to attend that you take a minute now to apply for your PIN. This will be used at the workshop and you need to give your student a little time to get this PIN number. You request a PIN by going to PIN.ed.gov. Much of the IRS data needed on the FAFSA can be transferred directly to the application so you do not have to bring your most recently filed taxes, however you may bring them to help the experts answer your questions.
