Cherokee Nation
MISSION of the Cherokee Nation:
The Cherokee Nation is committed to protecting our inherent sovereignty, preserving and promoting Cherokee culture, language and values, and improving the quality of life for the next seven generations of Cherokee Nation citizens.
Gadugi Portal:
The Gadugi Portal empowers tribal citizens to stay engaged and connected. Citizens are easily able to update their address and information, which is shared across departments instead of individually updating by each department. The portal allows citizens to connect directly to services needed.
Cherokee Nation Honor Cord and Stole Program
Cherokee Nation College Resources is happy to announce that the Honor Cord program for High School Seniors and the Stole program for College Graduates is now available on the Gadugi Portal.
Honor Cord Program:
The Cherokee Nation College Resource Center Honor Cord is available for current graduating high school seniors that are registered Cherokee Nation citizens. Students are eligible for an honor cord once per lifetime. Honor cords are provided to recognize Cherokee Nation citizens at high school graduation ceremonies.
Stole Program:
The Cherokee Nation College Resource Center rewards students striving to complete continuing education goals and academic success. The Stole program is available for college students who are currently graduating and are Cherokee Nation citizens. The program offers the opportunity to receive one graduation stole per degree level, Associate’s, Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral Degree.
To complete applications, Cherokee Nation citizens must be registered on the Gadugi Portal. You can access the application by signing into the Gadugi Portal at https://gadugiportal.cherokee.org/ and selecting “Applications” from the top blue navigation bar. From the Applications page, select “Honor Cord & Stole” from the list of available programs. After selecting the application, you will select which program you want to apply for.
Full program requirements and needed documentation for both programs can be found on the application page on the Gadugi Portal. The next council meeting will be held May 28, 2024 at Bernita Hughes Elementary beginning at 4 p.m. in the cafeteria.
To serve on the JOM IEC, a person must be the parent or guardian of a JOM-verified child. School board members, school employees, or spouses of board members and employees can not serve on the committee. For more information, contact Ginger Birkenfeld at 918 785-2438.

Day Camps
Camp Cherokee 2024 Day Camps is an enriching academic experience for Cherokee Nation students entering grades 1-6 during the school year 2024-25. Then camp will include classes in the areas of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) as well as cultural activities. Students must have a Cherokee Nation Citizenship Card.
Residential Camp
Camp Cherokee 2024 Residential Camp is an enriching academic experience for Cherokee Nation students entering grades 7-12 during the school year 2024-25. The camp will include classes in the areas of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) as well as cultural activities. Students will be placed in a core class based on the ranking of their areas of interest, as designated on their application. Evening hours will provide time for recreation, enrichment, and large camp events. Students must have a Cherokee Nation Citizenship Card.
Camp Cherokee 2024 Residential Camp will be held at Heart O’ Hills Camp and Conference Center, at Welling, Oklahoma. There is no cost to attend this overnight camp. Space is limited so early applications will receive preference.

Cherokee Nation Language Resources (click link)
The Cherokee Nation Language Department is committed to preserving and perpetuating the Cherokee language through day-to-day spoken use and by generating more proficient second-language Cherokee speakers.
Cherokee Nation Tribal Registration (click link)
The Cherokee Nation Registration Office processes Certificate of Degree of Indian Blood (CDIB), Dawes and Tribal Citizenship applications and issues CDIB, Citizenship, and Photo ID cards.
Indian Student Eligibility Certification Form (click link)
This form serves as the official record of the eligibility determination for each individual child included in the student count for the Title VI Indian Education Formula Grant Program.
